Wrightsville Offshore 7/24/10

Had some folks from Greensboro come down to fish offshore. Knew it would be rough, but saw a morning window.

This SW wind has pushed the blue water at least 20 miles out, along with the baitfish. Around ILM3 started marking bait, and seeing flyers. Lots of biteoffs, and shortstriks. Had something smoke a line for 200 yd's and come unbuttoned. Sail ???????? Never know.

Around noon the wind was honking. Trolled 6-7 kts to the 18 mile rock. Got a few small dolphin.
Stoped inshore of MB inlet to catch supper.

Y'all be carefull out there, it blows up fast.

It will lay down sometime!!!

I stayed on the hill today , not many went out here and the most I saw was a small peanut dolphin caught

I've got a reptuation of going when the other boats turn back.

More power to ya! I havent even bothered looking at RC the past like 2 weeks. I work right by the beach, and when its windy, i know i wont be fishing anytime soon.. yesterday blew! And its not a good, nor bad thing that you go out when others dont, it just shows how much more you are experienced, and it will prepare you for a storm, or rough water that comes out of no where. Keep it up!

Thanks Steve, but let me clear one thing up.
I don't ever advocate going out in weather rougher than you feel comfortable with.
I said I have a "Reputation of going", that's not to say I won't stay inshore, and have turned around plenty of times. One of the best things experience teaches you is the fine line between rough and dangerous, and not to cross it!!!!!!
