Lockwood Folley Buoys

CAPT Popeil the USCG Region CDR, stated that the current buoys at Lockwood Folley and North Topsail are slated to be pulled whether or not we complete the required dredging because the buoys are in the wrong locations due to Irene. When the MOA is processed that will provide the gratuitous funding to do this work, which we expect in the next 3-6 weeks, the work can begin. After the work is complete, the buoys can be easily replaced in the correct locations based on the new surveys completed as a part of the dredging project. Until that time, the Coast Guard does not want to provide aids to navigation that do not accurately portray the deep water within the channel. Once the survey is done, the centerline survey points will be available to the public immediately whether or not the buoys are immediately replaced. In any case, the Coast does intend to replace the aids to navigation after the channels are dredged.
