Re: Please Introduce Yourself & Team !
Hi Everyone,
Well, I kinda stumbled onto this website as I was reading about the 1st Annual Carolina King Classic. I was reading the rules and saw the entry fee's taking note about the $10.00 gift card for a child. So this drew my interest to include some other interesting facts about rules and so forth..seems like a great Tournament. I try to fish or help out at events that support good causes...ex: I have fished every single Boy Scout Tournament held in Sept--this will be my 5th year.
I fished with some buddies in the Wild Wing last week and all I can say is that it was tough weekend for fishing. I met "Whatever" briefly at the Captains meeting...seems like a nice guy but he was looking for someone. I go by the name Grupedawg--"just one my most favorite fishing events" and wow... they are delicious. My name is Bob and I live in Wilmington, NC. I love to fish when I'm not traveling for work or the weather keeps me inshore (flounder fishing---YAY!).
I cant say I'm a tru king fisherman but I love it! I haven't placed in any big tournaments but I have fished them. Now dont get me wrong...I can catch a King..just nothing to brag about... mostly juveniles 15lb or so. I fish a 20ft Maycraft that does pretty well and currently use a poor mans downrigger---gotta invest into some real ones. Guess that why..they are called poor man's down riggers--all I can swing at the moment. Too busy spending money to fish and buy GAS...jeez!
I will do my best to help out a fellow fisherman or share what little I know about King fishing...but I'm getting smarter. If anybody ever needs another fisherman let me know. I love reading the posts and sharing info..I'm learning everyday to be a better fisherman.
Thx, Bob

Welcome to the site Bob and thanks for the introduction. Looking forward to reading your reports. I know the fishing was slow for that tournament but did your boat catch any at all? How many fish were caught that you know about?

Gery, Sorry I missed this earlier...I was fishing with a buddy of mine on his boat. There were some fish being caught but not the ones we were looking for...Sharks mainly. Otherwise we did catch some big Spanish and the one king. thats it...Bob

Re: Please Introduce Yourself & Team !
Hello everyone, I was turned on to this site by back-lash. My son (Cory 21) and I have been fishing th SKA competetively for two years. Although we had fished a tournament here and there, we just got serious last year. We started out w/ a 1986 Mako 261 and found out real quick we needed a little more boat. So we bought an Onslow Bay. Last year we took third in the U23 div. for Georgia, this year we took 8th. Tough first two tournaments.
Cory has his captains Liscense and runs charters from our boat in the summer and attends Ga. Southern univ. during the school year. He's on the five year plan he tells me.
We have not fished for kingfish up your way but I am trying hard to get there. The KF classic may be a good time for us to come up. Hopefully we'll make it. It would be a good opportunity to do a little fishing before nationals. We're done in Ga.
Tight lines everyone. When you come down to St. Simons look us up.
