RFA-NC WELCOMES NEW CHAPTER CO-CHAIR
Capt. Dave Tilley Joins Tim Barefoot At NC Saltwater Angling Advocacy Group

January 20, 2011 - Capt. Dave Tilley of the party boat Continental Shelf of Morehead City, NC has been voted co-chair of the Recreational Fishing Alliance's North Carolina (RFA-NC) chapter. Tilley owns and manages the popular fishing website www.fryingpantower.com which has been an instrumental tool for informing the public of everything from "the hottest local bite" to the latest proclamations from North Carolina's Division of Marine Fisheries (DMF), even the schedules for various fishing shows.

"Dave brings a lot more to the table than just an informative website and vehicle to advance the RFA-NC," said fellow RFA-NC co-chair, Capt. Tim Barefoot. "He brings years of experience on the water and a no nonsense attitude towards fishery reform," Barefoot said, while adding "Dave truly is the voice of North Carolina in my humble opinion."

Capt. Tilley has garnered a great deal of respect among North Carolina's charter fleet and has helped build inroads between the recreational and commercial sector in North Carolina through his organizational efforts last February to get fishermen to Washington DC for the fishermen's rally. The event attracted some 5,000 fishermen from around the country, with North Carolina's fishing contingent well-represented in the 3-hour rally near the steps of the Capitol.

"Capt. Tilley has been able to extend the communications network within our fishing community through an online gateway called the Frying Pan Tower, linking up with anglers from other states like South Carolina, Florida, Louisiana, Texas and more," said RFA Managing Director Jim Hutchinson, Jr.

"In order to meet the mission to safeguard the rights of saltwater anglers, protect boat, marine and tackle industry jobs and ensure the long-term sustainability of marine resources we need to expand on our grassroots network of activists, and our North Carolina co-chairs know how to get that done," Hutchinson added.

To contact the RFA-NC co-chairs, email Capt. Dave Tilley at admin@fryingpantower.com or Capt. Tim Barefoot at barefootcharters@aol.com
