MHC 10/23/10 - bust

Saturday, offshore, was a bust. We put in about a mile inshore of the Rise and got a knockdown before we could get everything out. That was it. Trolled south about 5 miles, nada. About 10 we trolled over toward S'boro hole and ended up fishing a little West of Yellowfin Hole. Not a sniff. Finally checked out a couple bottom holes and they were barren of any sign of life. Was heading toward the Naeco when we found a nice rip as far as we could see in either direction. Had a fairly nice weed line. We could see dolphin but couldn't buy a bite. Mr. Stinky was the only taker.

I'm convinced it was the full moon, which didn't go away until about 8-8:30 a.m.

It was beautiful out there. We made 28-30kts on the way out after a late start fixing the nav lights. Had lines in at 7. Made 22-25kts heading back in. Can't complain about the weather, just the moon.

Topsail Island- 10/23- bust

Ran the beaches looking for bait--no pogies anywhere? Pulled some dead cigars and then jigged some live one's but couldnt buy a bite either...

Caught a brown marlin but the water looked dark/dirty...strange fishing on Sat but the sea was right except for east wind...

My brother went out Sunday with his friends out of New River, 20 miles, put 20 kings in the boat. Kept their limits and released the rest. Mostly teen fish but one got hit by a cuda and the remaining half weighed 20 lbs.

Cool, Guess it just wasnt our day...fish were everywhere but topsail area
